The whole concept behind the Triple Crown Pub is to provide a home away from home for all those who enjoy the warmth and friendship of a traditional pub found in the British Isles and Ireland. The pub’s name derives from the triple crowns or union of crowns of King James VI, who was the first king to rule over England, Scotland and Ireland. At the time, Wales was part of England and was not a separate entity. The Triple Crown combines traditional designs from pubs that you may find throughout the British Isles and Ireland with the bar being designed and built in Dublin and most of the furniture, fittings and decor coming from all corners of the British Isles. The menu features traditional dishes and favourites from all the homelands, while having draft beers and cider on tap gives it a truly authentic pub atmosphere.
Different daily specials and entertainment range from curry nights to steak specials to an all you can eat carvery, DJs, quizzes, live music and bingo, so make sure you phone for full details.

The Classic Beatles are the most unique Beatles Tribute in the World!

And they were at the Triple Crown's St Patrick Day 2008!

That may sound like a bold statement, but it’s a fact! The Dublin quartet remains the only Beatles tribute in the world to have worked with famed Beatle producer Sir George Martin, as well as members of an ex-Beatle’s solo band, Oh, and they were requested to perform for Queen Elizabeth II!

The Classic Beatles were invited to perform for the Queen of England in March 2004, for a party in her honour at The Ritz Hotel in London. They even had her up dancing for their entire set, not too bad seeing as she’s met the real ones!

The band also had the pleasure of performing with the legendary “Fifth Beatle” & Producer, Sir George Martin with his seventy-piece orchestra for three sell-out and critically acclaimed performances in Dublin’s National Concert Hall in October 1999. And again, in 2001, The Classics were invited to London by Sir George to perform for an MTV Lennon Tribute Special. Band members for this event included Ex Paul McCartney guitarist Robbie McIntosh and keyboard Player Chris “Wix” Wickens, along with David Bowie band members Gail Ann Dorsey and Zachary Alford.

The Classic Beatles have also performed with ex Wings members; Denny Laine, Steve Holly & Laurence Juber on stage in Liverpool’s Adelphi Hotel Theatre in August 1994.

These are among the highlights of The Classic Beatles’ illustrious career, which began modestly in Dublin in the fall of 1990 (as The Quarrymen). The band are pioneers of the tribute scene in Ireland and paved the way for a plethora of tribute acts in the mid nineties. There isn’t a venue worth it’s salt the length and breadth of Ireland that this band hasn’t played. So popular was the band’s appeal by 1993 that they were invited to play live in front of over 60,000 people in Dublin’s Phoenix Park as part of a welcome home for Ireland’s returning World Cup soccer heroes. The band also performed live on the roof of a Dublin radio station to coincide with the anniversary of The Beatles last performance on the Apple rooftop thirty years to the day, to a frenzy of press and police attention.

The Classic Beatles have appeared on numerous Irish T.V. shows (The Den, Nighthawks, Secrets, Live @ Three, Kenny Live, F.I.S.H, Ardán, Ireland A.M.) and have been guests on various top rated radio shows; 2FM: Gerry Ryan, Ryan Tubridy, Alan Corcoran. FM104: Strawberry Alarm Clock. 98FM: Tom Dunne, After Dark. Galway Bay FM. Anna Livia FM to mention just a few!

Not content to limit their performances to Ireland they have graced the stage at no less than six international Beatle Conventions in Liverpool, endearing themselves to a new loyal fan base of mixed nationalities. All this and two domestic conventions too!!

They have also found themselves performing at a number of celebrity weddings; Sharon Corr (The Corrs), Ryan Tubridy (RTÉ, 2FM presenter), Sean Dunne (Property Developer) & Nigel Williams (Welsh International Rugby Referee) to name a few.

The Classic Beatles have performed Christmas residencies in top hotels over Dublin and Wicklow. Sold Out Christmas shows in Clontarf Castle resulted in record breaking bar takings! The Arklow Bay Hotel, The Sheiling Hotel, The Grand Hotel Wicklow have all been host to sold out Classic Beatles Christmas Shows. Well, Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without The Classic Beatles!

A typical Classic Beatles show consists of two hours of the greatest songs in the Beatles’ songbook “performed with perfection and affection” - Evening Herald. The show features real album gems as well as the obvious big hits.

The Attention to detail doesn’t end with the delivery of the great songs, the band also partake in the witty banter for which The Beatles were equally famous. The detail is followed through to the look of the show. The start of which, finds them in exact replica velvet collared suits made famous on the Ed Sullivan Show to 73 million viewers in 1964, complete with mop-tops. At the mid way stage of the performance the band reappear dressed in the Sgt. Pepper outfits as worn by The Beatles on the cover of their ground breaking 1967 album. In the final stage of the show, all four members appear on stage dressed as their alter-egos with longer hair circa White Album / Abbey Road and bring the show to a powerful climax featuring many of the songs The Beatles themselves had never played live.

A Classic Beatles show brings all the joys of Beatledom to a whole new generation and allows first generation fans to relive the music that changed our lives forever. After the curtain falls, it’s not unusual for the fans to go away convinced that they actually saw The Beatles up there on stage...

RATTLE AND HUM - "TRIUMPHANT IN CAYMAN ISLANDS" CAYMAN NET NEWS

St Patrick’s Day 2007 saw a variety of events around the Island, but none more impressive or well received as Rattle and Hum’s two-night run at the Triple Crown. The U2 tribute band sold out on both Friday, 16 March and Saturday, 17 March night, and judging from their audience’s reaction, could have filled the West Bay Road venue for a week.

"...Triple Crown was pretty good too... but quiet on the day we went."
Anyway, you can't go wrong. If you are staying at the marriott resort, you can walk to several of the bars. Otherwise, take a cab or get someone to drive you... everything's pretty close by."

Triple Crown

¢-$$, British, Grand Cayman

Fodor's Review:

This excellent pub offers a pleasant English-style atmosphere. Popular dishes range from Lancashire hot pot (a baked lamb stew with sliced potatoes on top) to sausage and mash, as well as loads of American dishes too. Efficient smoke-eating machines keep the haze to a minimum; TVs are tuned into British and occasionally even U.S. sporting events. The bar menu is served until 11 pm, but prices are generally low.

By the time Rattle and Hum took the stage on Friday evening, the crowd was ripe with anticipation and the band did not disappoint. Paying tribute to each genre of U2’s musical journey, Rattle and Hum gave the crowd everything from early songs like ‘I Will Follow’ to modern classics like ‘Vertigo’ and a feast of favourites in between.

The capacity crowd at the Triple Crown clearly enjoyed every minute of the performance and sang along to each and every song. Lead singer Michael Malone, who imitates U2 vocalist Bono in every aspect, gave the audience plenty of opportunity to be part of the show.

“They were such an appreciative audience, they got involved on all the songs,” said guitarist Aidan Morrissey.

If the audience that night were behaving like they were witnessing the real U2, they could be forgiven. Rattle and Hum sounds so much like their famous counterparts, it is easy at times to forget you are watching a tribute band.

As well as perfectly mimicking the U2 sound, the band also looks the part. “We’ve tried to match U2’s equipment as much as possible,” said drummer Ian Donnelly. “We’ve got the same guitars, bass and drum kit as they use,” added Aidan. This attention to detail is applied to every aspect of the band’s sound and image making Rattle and Hum one of the best, and most accurate, tribute bands operating in the world today.

This level of showmanship does not come by accident and the band continues to work hard to sustain, and improve on, their own high standards. “We’re amateurs but with a professional attitude,” says bass player Uisneagh Treacy.

As a rule the band refrains from consuming any alcohol before or during a show, just to ensure they deliver the best possible performance. “If people make the effort to come and see us play we owe it to them to perform and make their night enjoyable,” said Uisneagh.

They certainly delighted the Triple Crown crowd who really got behind the lads from Dublin, and lost themselves in the music and the performance. With the wealth of great songs in the U2 back catalogue to choose from, and Rattle and Hum’s ability to deliver incredibly accurate renditions, the tribute band never ran short of popular material.

Visiting Cayman for the first time, the band arrived from Dublin late on Thursday night after traveling for over 24 hours. Two performances later and they were on their way home again, leaving at lunchtime on Sunday. “It’s been the best two week holiday in two days we’ve ever had,” said Uisneagh.

Like U2, the band formed in Dublin and will have been playing together for seven years this May. As well as the four band members, the team also consists of a sound technician, Jessie Roe, and a stage technician, Nial Butler, who have both been with Rattle and Hum from the beginning.

All coming from musical backgrounds with other bands, the four got together after an impromptu performance at a wedding planted the idea of a tribute band in their head. Taking their name from the 1988 U2 album, the group spent almost four months rehearsing in preparation for their first full performance.

This inaugural gig in their hometown, proved to be an enormous success and extremely popular. So popular in fact that the band themselves had difficulty entering the premises. “We couldn’t get into our own gig it was so packed,” said Aidan.

From there, everything snowballed and, after a just a few local performances, the band suddenly found they were in demand all over Ireland. Prior to Rattle and Hum, there was no Irish U2 tribute band and the boys saw an opportunity to fill that void which they have done and continued to do ever since.

One of their goals when they originally formed was to play the Olympia Theatre in Dublin, one of the city’s top venues. It took the band just two years to realize this ambition and in doing so they became the first Irish tribute band ever to do so, selling out on their opening night.

“It’s basically a hobby that went out of control,” said Uisneagh.

That hobby has since brought them national - and now international - recognition as well as bringing the band to Grand Cayman. “Everyone we’ve met on Cayman has been great, they couldn’t have been nicer,” said Uisneagh. “It feels like home.”
